Number of Illinois Finalists? 1 for sure, but any more? Morton, Marian, and maybe Edwardsville will be looking for a shot. I don't know that any are a "lock" besides O'Fallon, but Marian Catholic at the very least will be your 1A Champions.

Morton has been making finals at the St. Louis SR for many years now. I would be stunned if they didn't make Finals. It also helps this year that their panel is significantly weaker than other panels. The only groups better in panel 2 are Blue Springs and Lakota East, and other groups like  maybe grain valley, camdenton and blue springs south, morton beat last year. 

Marian also looks to easily win 1A 

O'fallon has a TOUGH 4a class- they'll for sure make finals, podium isn't a guarantee with BA, BS and BV (Broken Arrow, Blue Springs, and Bentonville)

Mostly agree- but my 2 issues with this are that Mascoutah deserves to be way higher- possibly even 2nd for 2a. They had a super successful season this year, with wins at Effingham and Metro East, and at EIU was 3 points trailing Mahomet and Belleville East

My other issue here is Belleville East- they should have won eastern, lost to Edwardsville by only a point early in the season. They also beat collinsville early too

I think I could see Ofallon, Morton, and Marian in finals at the regional. A strong Illinois representation. I wouldn't be surprised if Marian and Morton finished pretty close to each other somewhere in that 8-12 range. But I'm sure Marian would just be excited to get back into a night show. Balash would have to tell us when that last happened.

Early thoughts from U of I: lots of nostalgia here. 
 

Paris using hymn of axciom as a ballad 

Effingham had all sorts- lots of cadets with the church/stained glass theme , also with the angels in the architecture/doxology at the end. Then at the end, a little star of Indiana 91 with the rotating cross. I LOVED Effingham’s show. 

Newton: loving the HUGE flag at then end!! Such an important topic and great message. We love any Dear Evan Hansen too

Prairie Central reminds me alot of Herscher. They have represented the small-size bands in 1A well at ISU the last few years. Clean, solid, & "fun" shows!

These scores are absolutely crazy to me, LaSalle-Peru grand champion?! Losing to Grayslake North by 8 points at ISU, to (somewhat) comfortably beating them the very next week? Huge achievement for those guys, massive shoutout!

All it takes is one judge not liking a performance for one reason or another.
