  1. Who wins finals at ISU?

I have a feeling there could be some surprises.
  2. NEXUS Indoor, a 501c3 non-profit, is currently seeking candidates to fill 2 tech staff positions. Entering it's third year of competitive performance, NEXUS Indoor will compete in the Midwest Percussion Cooperative circuit as well as the WGI Regional in Indianapolis and World Championships in the 2015 season. Battery Tech Opening The ideal candidate for this position would be well versed in multiple facets of battery percussion. The duties would include leading sectional rehearsals as well as assisting in the overall instruction of the battery section. Previous WGI/DCI experience is preferred, however the ability to teach and lead the members with a great attitude is paramount to success. Attendance at auditions, rehearsals, and performances would be required. This position would report directly to the Battery Caption head. Visual Tech Opening The ideal candidate for this position would be well versed in the visual performance aspects of the indoor activity. There is a huge difference between "playing" the notes and "performing" the music and the right candidate for this position would recognize and understand this difference. Previous WGI/DCI experience is preferred, however the ability to teach and lead the members with a great attitude is paramount to success. Attendance at auditions, FLOOR rehearsals, and performances would be required. This position would report to both the Visual Coordinator and the Executive Director. The tentative schedule for the 2015 Season is attached. For more information or to express interest in either of these positions, please contact Burl Gregory at bgregory@nexusindoor.org 2015 Schedule - 92414.pdf
  3. NEXUS Indoor, based out of New Lenox, currently has a complete set of marching battery equipment available for sale. This equipment was used only for the 2014 Indoor season and is in excellent condition. The line consists of: 7 Snares (14") 4 Tenors (6,6,8,10,12,13) 5 Basses (18,20,22,24,26) Carriers for each drum These drums were supplied to us by Melhart Music and it is honestly easier to just sell them from our location as opposed to shipping them back and then having them sold and shipped again. The price for the entire set is $8000. We can work with schools and booster organizations. If interested, please contact Burl Gregory at bgregory@nexusindoor.org
  4. 2014 Director Changes

Out of curiosity, where is he going in SoCal?
  5. Shows/Scores for the weekend of October 26, 2013

    Absolutely agreed.
  6. Shows for the weekend of October 5, 2013

There is also an MPC Standstill Contest running in conjunction with the Naperville Central show. 1:45pm Bremen 2:00pm Hersher 3:15pm Glenbard West 3:30pm Lincoln-Way Central 3:45pm A.A. Stagg 4:00pm Naperville Central 4:30pm Fremd 4:45pm Minooka 5:15pm Oswego (pending) 5:30pm Lemont 6:00pm Romeoville 6:15pm Lincoln-Way North

Yes, all judges were the same regardless of class.
  8. Shows for September 14, 2013

Well if you see ME, come say hi!
  9. What would you like to see/What can we do?

How about adding Staff to each band's page. I know that not every school gets their info to you, but those that do would have that piece in place. Sometimes when I'm at a show and see a really good guard, brass line, or percussion section, I like to know who their instructor is.
  10. Shows for the weekend of October 6, 2012

There will actually be 2 divisions for the MPC Standstill: Novice and Open. I would agree that Romeoville will most likely take 1st in OPEN, but there are a few dark horses out there in contention for 2nd and 3rd, and all of Novice. Let us not forget that this is percussion ONLY, so there is nowhere to hide the "dirt".
  11. Shows for the weekend of September 22, 2012

...and that is one of the million dollar questions...
  12. I was in attendance for the Rockford show this past weekend, and I have to say that I observed something I never thought I would see at the Drum Corps level: Soloists were being mic'ed. I know, I know: we've been doing that for years in the marching band world. Great. That's marching band and it's usually due to the fact that either many of our high school players just don't have the stamina and/or chops to get their sound all the way up to the press box, or the instrument itself just isn't designed to have that kind of projection (you're welcome, flute soloists). What I'm talking about is DRUM CORPS. This is an activity that, by it's very nature, is designed to part the audience's hair with a massive wall of sound. I was amazed and more than a little shocked to see (here it comes) the Concord Blue Devils with soloists trying to jockey for room in front of a microphone. THE BLUE DEVILS! Aren't they the ones that pretty much owned the soloist crown for years? Without added amplification? In the interest of full disclosure, they were not the only ones doing this, as I saw one other corps with the same setup (Cadets), and my "loyalties" are not with the Devs. But come on... Any other thoughts on this one out there? I look forward to the angry emails, postings, etc.
  13. What DCI shows are people attending?

Hitting the Rockford show and Semis/Finals in Indy, confirmed. Enjoyed the "Tour of Champions" format at Rockford last year as it gave newer fans a chance to get a taste of not only the full corps but the smaller individual/ensembles as well. Taking 2 "mid-busses" this year with 30 students...pray for me.
  14. Shows of the weekend of October 15, 2011

We were told that the classification for Sandwich was based on TOTAL group size...winds, percussion, guard, dm.
  15. Shows for the weekend of October 1, 2011

    No predictions for St. Rita?
