The 28th QUINCY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL OCTOBERFEST PARADE AND FIELD COMPETITION event has been sanctioned by the National Federation of State High School Associations and will feature outstanding marching bands from high schools in Illinois, Missouri and Iowa. Octoberfest was established in 1996 with the goal of providing an outstanding performance opportunity within a competition. Schools will select the category in which they choose to be judged and will be ranked according to a standard of achievement established by the judges. Our goal is to provide a positive experience for every group that participates. The day will consist of two performances, the OCTOBERFEST PARADE at 2:00 p.m. and OCTOBERFEST FIELD COMPETITION at 5:00 p.m. Because of you and your band’s excellent reputation in the marching arena, we invite you to participate in BOTH events or the Parade only/Field Show only option. Tickets for the field competition will be sold to the public. All participants will be admitted free. The day will culminate with the presentation of trophies at an awards ceremony featuring all bands on the field! A Sweepstakes Trophy will be presented to the band receiving the highest point total from both the parade and field competition. The entry fee is $250.00 per group for both the field and parade competition and $50.00 for those schools entering the parade only category. Please enter your band\'s information on the attached form. A more detailed data sheet will be sent to you closer to the competition date. If you should have any questions, please feel free to call Quincy Senior High School Music Department at 217-224-3774 or contact Matt Gabriel, QHS Band Director gabr1630@qps.org, or Dr. Todd Pettit, QPS Director of Music & Fine Arts, pettitto@qps.org.
