Based on IHSA enrollment numbers they could be 2A with the other bands that are signed up.  Granted, those IHSA numbers are only updated every 2 years now, so who knows?

This is the second year of the current enrollment cycle, so classes shouldn't change based off of that.

ISU lost Herscher and gained Macomb and El Paso Gridley this year, both of whom are smaller than IVC, bumping up (by my estimation) IVC into 2A if ISU divides classes evenly, which they usually do.

I can definitely see that. What's certain is whatever happens will have big implications for 1A. IVC seems strong this year, and I could definitely see them winning if they stay in 1A.

I was under the impression that ISU does classes based on the same hard-and-fast numbers every year, and the 1A/2A cutoff has been 650 for as long as I've been paying attention. That's why in 2022, there were 9 schools in 1A and 6 in 2A.

I don’t think that IVC stays consistently above Galesburg despite the victory at Dunlap. Even there, every caption had a judge giving the opposite band the victory. Great win for IVC but, in my opinion, not a particularly defining one.

Yes, that makes a lot more sense. Plus the margin between Galesburg and IVC was small, .15!

IVC should stay in 1A this year, unless ISU changes up class sizes. I say they win 1A with Galesburg runner up. I think Eureka will have a hard time competing with them.

Lincoln-Way now follows in O'Fallon's footsteps, where they only go to ISU if there's no BOA event that weekend

And the way the season is set up now, it's almost a guarantee that there will be a super regional ISU weekend.  Looking at next year, ISU has open dates on 10/11 and 10/25; Big Ten has not announced the conference schedule as of yet.

ISSMA's schedule is showing state regional qualifiers October 18th, Semi-State November 1 and state finals November 8, so that leaves Lucas OIl likely hosting the Indianapolis super regional 10/25.
