  1. From watching the video from Lincoln-Way, I agree, they're playing and moving well. I just don't feel like the design is as strong, and that's 60% of the score that could keep them from making finals. To be fair to them it's really difficult to judge them on a local level.

  10. There have been bands over the years who couldn't perform in a regional finals for whatever reason (homecoming, etc.). Normal didn't perform in finals at ISU in 2021 due to attending U of I which was the same day.

  12. 25 years ago for both. West and Community both made St. Louis Finals, placing 7th and 9th, respectively. West was also the AA Champions at the Indianapolis regional that year as well.

  14. I posed this thought last year when Lockport attended both the Indy Super Regional and ISU: What's Normal's plan should they make Indy finals? I think they have an outside shot of potentially making finals there, and the finals announcement for Indy is right around the time they enter the flow to perform at ISU.

  16. Working my way through videos. I've seen Marian, Bloomington, Normal, Lincoln-Way (I know they're not here), Lockport, Normal, VJA, Hersey, Prospect thus far. I'll have my thoughts up hopefully Wednesday.

  18. Rock Island is not in attendance here.
  19. This is an interesting set of predictions, for sure. I agree with the top 3 in 5A. 4-8 are probably somewhat all interchangeable (and likely, there's no finals spots available for any of these). I think Plainfield Central places 4th here, after a 2nd place at Stagg, 13th at BOA Toledo and a 5th place showing at Lincoln-Way, .05 behind Marian. Jacobs might be dealing with "small band bias" at the local shows, and I'm intrigued to see where they'll place at show based on school size. Huntley in 3rd in 6A is a stretch. They had a rough time at Lincoln-Way, placing 9th in 2A, and all of their captions save for visual ensemble were at or near the bottom of the class. I think Warren and Oswego beat them, with both possibly making finals. Interested to see where Oswego East places; if their NIU class championship was the result of meeting an early season Marian, a not fully complete judging panel, or what.

  21. The 3A recap is wild. Morton 7 and 2 in the music captions, Lockport 1 and 6, Prospect 5 and 1.
  22. There have been some truly bananas results this year, so who knows anymore? 😄
  23. The judging panels are pretty good this year with only 2 names returning from last year. 24. And the way the season is set up now, it's almost a guarantee that there will be a super regional ISU weekend. Looking at next year, ISU has open dates on 10/11 and 10/25; Big Ten has not announced the conference schedule as of yet. ISSMA's schedule is showing state regional qualifiers October 18th, Semi-State November 1 and state finals November 8, so that leaves Lucas OIl likely hosting the Indianapolis super regional 10/25.
