  4. I also don't think that the 2 panels of judges help too much for accuracy, either.

  5. Something else to consider is budget. Larger schools generally have a bigger budget to spend on props, techs, staff, instruments, private teachers and all that. I come from a school with a rather small budget and it's always tough seeing bands in class with new drum heads and all silver brass.

  6. Yeah, I fat-fingered the submit button, but yeah, solid runs for both O'Fallon and Morton. 8. Truth be told, as a small school band director, I often point to the Marians and Morton's of the world when speaking with Admin, Coaches, and other stakeholders in the band program as the "goal for what we do". Don't get me wrong, competition is important, but the music education the kiddos receive through the activity is importanter. I have no problem competing against those groups (Morton is easily double our size and the same size HS just about) - and if I do, I'll find a show that will work for us.

  10. Ah love to see that! It was a weird situation all around, glad IVC can walk away feeling good and I feel bad for Washington and East Peoria. I was really looking forward to the 5A competition.
