Dave Colee (who used to be the announcer for ISU's marching band) picks his favorite show (based on whatever vibes he wants). I'm not here today, but he has always been the one to present the award himself.

All this but also, it’s widely known and accepted that Galesburg is the holder of fourteenth place. You all should be battling for fourteenth not first…good luck 🤣 joking aside, I was mildly surprised by some but not taken aback. Any of the performances could’ve ended up in a range a different placements in my eyes. Judging is all subjective.

A few things: 1-Different panels with different judges. As you were saying, individual tastes vary. 2-Different performances. It is not as though your favorite group has a wide variety of performances while everyone else is constant. 3-Scores are relative and especially affected by nearby groups. I’m not sophisticated enough to determine performance intricacies on grade 6 material, but I know O’Fallon seemed to blow the paint off the stadium in prelims but seemed a touch dull in finals. I suspect that comes from comparison as much as performance. Ultimately, it is an art, not a science, and the psychological variables are numerous and complex.

So Collinsville in last? That's a choice alright, IVC and lemont beating Galesburg seems unreasonable to me as well, but what do I know. Marian Catholic got 6th to my great disappointment but to be fair the visual score was probably to blame. Prospect got upset (somehow) and Normal secured 3rd place (once again, somehow) every show at finals was fantastic and the performers should all be proud but I must say I don't see what the judges do.

Tell me I'm not the only one that thinks of a Naperville North/Centerville, OH type show from back in the day when watching Bloomington. Fun and well done. My favorite one of theirs since the one with ladders.

No one knows. It has always been a most fun type thing.

I am going to be receiving 1990-1998 (ish) ISU recaps soon and those will be posted to the site. Does anyone have anything from ISU 1984-1989, or scoring recaps from 2000 to like 2008 for ISU?
