You are cordially invited to participate in the 2019 Lions’ Classic High School Marching Band Competition. “The Classic” will take place on Saturday, September 28th, 2019 on the campus of Carterville High School at Lions’ Field. We hope to include many local bands in and around the Southern Illinois area, as well as those outside of the Route 13 corridor. This exciting competition will be an early season show for directors to get feedback from well-known professionals within the music education field. Bands will also have the opportunity to perform their show using our state-of-the-art campus facility, which includes an all-artificial turf field. The competition will begin at approximately 4:30 PM. We will be using a traditional seven-member judging panel. Caption Awards for Music Performance, Visual Performance, Percussion, Auxiliary, and Drum Major will be given for each class, in addition to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Placement Awards within each class. An overall Grand Champion (regardless of class) will be crowned at the end of the competition, in addition to a Soloist Award. We will strive to employ the highest quality adjudicators to evaluate your performance. Judges’ comments will be recorded digitally and given to directors via a webpage or email. Remember to complete the entry application properly and completely. In addition to the application process, we are requiring a $200 entry fee with application before or on August 1st, 2019. All entries accepted after August 1st will require an entry fee of $225 with the application. Please note the early entry deadline for the 2019 Lions’ Classic is Thursday, August 1st. All entries are due by Friday, August 16th. Please mail, email, or fax the application
