Predictions for the weekend of October 12, 2013

4 shows this weekend: Marengo, Metamora, U of I, and ISU.  For ISU and U of I, we do things a little bit differently: the entire staff makes their own predictions and we put them all together with the poll results as well.  Also, for ISU, we predict a few “sleeper bands” that could sneak in and grab a finals spot.

Let’s get right to the predictions.

Metamora Parade & Field Invitational: Metamora, IL

Class 1A – 3 out of 5 of these met in Danville.  We don’t think the placements will change, and we think they will be the Top 3 here.  Look for St. Joseph-Ogden to take the top prize here, followed by El Paso-Gridley in 2nd and Oblong rounding out the Top 3.
Class 2A – Rich Central makes their competitive debut this year here.  We think they can capture 1st place here, with Niles West coming in 2nd to them, and Mt. Zion taking 3rd.
Class 3A – This could be a very close and competitive class.  Look for Paxton-Buckley-Loda to capture the class championship in a tight race, followed closely by LaSalle-Peru in 2nd and Lincoln in 3rd.  This is the hardest class to decipher.
Class 4A – Mahomet-Seymour is a good band, but hasn’t competed yet this year.  We think Dunlap’s previous competitive experience this season will help guide them to winning Class 4A.  Mahomet should be strong enough to grab the 2nd Place award.  Look for Bolingbrook to come in 3rd here.
