Dan Balash 244 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 Phantom-"On Air" I've heard rumblings that this show will include - 1000 Airplanes on the Roof (Philip Glass) and The Firebird (Igor Stravinsky). if this happens, title goes to Phantom.

Dan Balash 244 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 here's my thinking: cavies will have an off year cadets show will amaze, but not be as good as 2005. scv will challenge for the top spot. here's my top 3: -phantom -scv -bluecoats
tubawarrior 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 word from Hoppy's blog is the Cadets will not use amplified voice this season. "1000 Airplanes on the Roof"...interesting if true...Esperanza did that in 2004. (obviously in my mind Phantom would do a much better version, even if I don't remember how E played it) word from Phantom Regiment camp is they had 700-1000 auditionees

LWCMKtrumpet06 7 Report post Posted November 28, 2006 Sure didn't seem like 700 to me. In fact, it seemed like less than last season. Only two pieces were handed out in addition to "Elsa's"...
Dan Balash 244 Report post Posted November 28, 2006 not going to tell us?
kid309 5 Report post Posted November 28, 2006 PR almost always reads at least one show mvt in november, on top of elsa's. so he know, phantom just doesn't allow members and potentials to post on public forums, like here or drum corps planet, b/c as anyone who hangs out here much knows, even the smallest comment can be misinterpreted and blow up into some huge deal and PR doesn't want that reflecting on the corp. but that was under pat, i don't know about under the new managment. LWCMKtrumpet06 7 Report post Posted November 28, 2006 Which is why this will really, really, really, really, really be my last post. I swear. This time it's out of my control.
threesacharm 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2006 LWCMKtrumpet06: I think I know how you feel. I hate knowing things, like what a show is, and not being allowed to tell it yet. WHY DO THEY TAKE SO LONG TO ANNOUNCE THINGS!! haha. I'm about as excited for the offical announcement as I was last year when I'd giggle whenever I'd hear Beethoven's 5th. DesignedForBand 6 Report post Posted November 29, 2006 1000 Airplanes on the Roof............. Now that is a departure for Phantom, if that is their show. But they normalize it with Firebird, which I know is going to just blow the socks off everyone who hears it. Again - all hearsay - if this is really the show for Phantom. Smedricksman24 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 Firebird? Don't they realize that every marching band in Illinois just did it? I really think it's not fair to the Cavvies to say, based solely on their show concept, that they will have an off year. It's a crazy concept, but you gotta give them points for ballsiness. It's such a rediculous idea for the most successful corps of this decade to do, that I think they can make it work. Not saying first, but I'm saying it should be a arn good show. Especially if they do "We Didn't Start the Fire"
Dan Balash 244 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 ten bucks says Richard Saucedo had a lot of say in the selection of this show.
DesignedForBand 6 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 I don't think the DCI panels are really concerned with what the IL high schools did........... Firebird is a popular show every year. I can't wait to hear Phantom's version.

However, they did come back with the firebird the next year with one of my favorite shows.
