wow.. 40 colorguard.. i thought 28 was big.. lol.. i like smaller groups.. like.. i liked our mb size this year.. we had about 120 (25 in the guard and around 11 in the drumline) .. and we have 3 sousaphones.. and that's all i know.. we had 2 drum majors but one dropped out due to family problems before band camp so we had 1 the whole season.. it was hard when everyone had to face backfield.. they had to watch a flute player's feet .. ah well

Well, galesburg has:

4 drum majors

9 baritones

14 trombones

29 trumpets

12 drumline

8 in pit

13 mellos

6 sousas

8 tenor saxes

15 altos

7 bass clarinets

20 clarinets

19 flutes

6 piccolos

17 colorgaurd

grand total of 187 members

i guess you could say we're a big band! LOL

people may have their ideas about the "perfect" band size but i think that if you have people that like it enough to participate you have a great band nomatter what you sound like or how many are there

NO TUBA, HOW DO YOU LIVE! Sorry my tuba instincts just took over me.

If this is Murphysboro the drum major only conducted the 2nd and 3rd songs. No drum major for the opener (eat your hearts out Carmel and Lawrence Central).

No tuba...well, they seemed to have a very strong low brass otherwise.

11th highest score at ISU this year is pretty impressive for this size band and instrumentation, IMO.

My senior year we were, I believe, 204. Wish I had my massive band picture, but I only have the concert bands' pics in my yearbook.

2 drum majors

27 flutes, might be 25...might be 29

27 clarinets

25 trumpets

12 mellophones

8 trombones

Saxophones...I'm not even going to try

4 tenor saxes

6 tubas

4-6 baritones

Battery was 6 snares, 6 basses, four tenors

Can you tell we were top heavy? :)

When you get more than 250 people on the football field, including the guard, I think that's too many. Getting too crowded to really do anything.

Ever see Duncanville from Texas? You should check them out! It might just change your mind :) The last time I saw them they had 90 in the color guard alone. That does not include the dancers who do not spin.

Anyway, Best Case is when the directors, staff and designers make the best of who/what they have regardless of size, etc.
