Illinois Marching Online

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I welcome all to read this, but I'm going to focus primarily on everyone in the St. Louis area and Southern Illinois.

If you have ever looked up any of my previous posts, I put together a topic in this forum entitled St Louis Drum Corps back in June.  Since that post, we have established ourselves as an Illinois non-profit, are awaiting IRS approval as a 501©(3) corporation, have gained tremendous social media followings on both Facebook and Twitter, and have named the group the Gatekeepers Drum and Bugle Corps. We also feel that we are well on our way to putting together a Sound Sport team based out of St. Louis and fielding the first drum and bugle corps from the area in 25 years!

So what I must ask of you, the marching community at large, is to help us!

The best part of Sound Sport is that, except for instruments, the ensemble will be able to operate on a budget of no more than $5,000. Now I'm not asking anyone to sign a check for $5,000, but we do need help finding a source of instruments. As I am writing this post, we currently have enough individuals interested to field a 12 piece battery and an 8 person hornline. And we're still growing! However, as we grow, our need for instruments increases. The group currently owns one trumpet, one marching snare, and is in the process of procuring a pair of baritones. Now so far a lot of the money put down on these instruments has come out of my own pocket, but I don't posses the financial capability to buy the rest of the equipment. So what can you, the Illinois Marching Online community, do to help? DONATE! We are able to take donations of either money or used instruments in order to help our cause. Even if we don't have a need for the instrument you want to send us (say a flute for example), we will find a local in-need music program to send it to! Why let those horns sit unused when someone else is desperately wanting to put that horn to use?

If you want to help us in our endevour to secure new horns, however, we have reached an agreement with a horn manufacturer in Michigan to provide us new horns at 85% the original cost and simply need the money. Now there are three options here:

1 - You could head on over to our website and donate at one of the listed levels, or contact us and indicate how much you're wanting to contribute.
2 - You could click on this link (http://www.gofundme.com/stldrumcorps) and donate any amount from $5 on up.
3 - You could go to our website and order a shirt, hoodie, or hat supporting the Gatekeepers and STLDCI. All profits go towards securing instruments, facitilities, and transportation for 2015 and beyond.

Another way to really help us is to aid us in contacting directors. As great as it would be to own our own equipment, we realize that we will have to borrow something from someone. So help us contact directors! Just send the contact information to us through Facebook or email and we'll take it from there!

Thank you for reading my shameless self-promotion this evening! I wish you all the best and hope to see some of you in the coming weeks and months!
