even though there are not a ton of bands going to the pontiac boa show, that looks like a pretty tough competition. Im looking forward to how that one can play out. hey dan do you by chance know who the judges will be at lincoln way?

Just checked the NCHS Marching Classic website and it looks like Batavia's been added to Class 3A. (I think they were originally scheduled for the now canceled NIU competition?)

Added. :)  They weren't on there when I checked last night.

Any predictions for the percussion showcase?

Not from me, no. :) I don't know nearly enough about percussion to predict that.

Before I forget-people attending the LW Invitational, allow extra time as the area around Lincoln-Way Central is all torn up.  I should be there, barring extreme weather.

If anyone out there feels they could predict this contest, unbiasedly, write it up and send it to us! We will post it along with the rest of the predictions. (Our effort to engage the other activities...even if our staff is not as knowledgeable about said event :) )

Yeah, the only two ones I've heard of being very good at percussion are Romeoville and Batavia. I'd say Romeoville takes it with Batavia in 2nd, but not sure about 3rd.

EDIT: If I had to throw out a 3rd place, I'd go with Wheaton North

There will actually be 2 divisions for the MPC Standstill:  Novice and Open.

I would agree that Romeoville will most likely take 1st in OPEN, but there are a few dark horses out there in contention for 2nd and 3rd, and all of Novice.  Let us not forget that this is percussion ONLY, so there is nowhere to hide the "dirt".

Good luck to all the bands performing today!  Bundle up :)

I can't wait to cheer on all the bands at Normal West's first hosted competition.  An awesome lineup including Nashville performing for the first time ever, Central A&M in their first season, Morton in the house, West's ninja show.......WOW.

IMHO central Illinois is really 'bringing it' this year - watch out U of I and ISU, the 'downstate' bands look ready to represent!

I must add that I am a fan of all marching bands whether they are upstate, downstate,  metro, rural, big, small, props, no props - they're all great.  As a parent, alumni, and general fan I feel that marching band is a gift to us all.
