Dan Balash 247 Report post Posted October 1, 2012 Olympia scores. These are prefaced with the following: Attached are the recap scores for the 2012 Olympia High School Marching Spartans Invitational. I’m very sorry to say a mistake was made at the competition in Class A placements. At the competition the placement order was announced as: 3, Ridgeview; 2, Fieldcrest; 1, Farmington. After further review, a calculation error in the programming was discovered, and the correct scores reveal that it should have been: 3, Fieldcrest; 2, El Paso; 1, Farmington. The placements remain the same for Class AA and Class AAA. We sincerely apologize to all the bands for the mistake. We do our best to ensure accuracy in all areas, and we regret that this has happened. We congratulate all the bands who competed at Olympia yesterday. Thanks to all for a great competition. drillwriter 10 Report post Posted October 1, 2012 Does anyone find it odd that there have been several scoring/placement issues in just the first few weeks? It seems to me that if you have 2 people on 2 PC's, each independantly adding the scores, you should be able to have some checks and balances. Heck, throw in someone tabulating by hand, and there shouldn't be any excuses for incorrect scores or placements being announced.

ejn 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2012 with VJA, LWE, and Prospect in 5A, finals ought be a cage match. Talk about a hot mess. And don't forget about Hersey. The 5A/6A block looks to be super competitive. I believe O'Fallon is going to do very well at ISU this year. Mod edit: Fixed broken quotes.

RailerSax83 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2012 thanks! Just wondering what exactly the percussion caption includes? I'm in the band at Lincoln, and was extremely surprised when we won percussion seeing as how we lack a drum line and currently our set player (due to grades...) We did "sing" our drum feature. Could that count?

Absolutely, I didn't mean to exclude OTHS from the conversation. I was just pointing out the fact that Hersey is adding onto an already stacked class. 5A stands good chance at being the most represented class in finals. Dan Balash 247 Report post Posted October 2, 2012 Where are the Geneseo scores? I emailed the director Sunday-haven't gotten a response. I emailed 2 competing directors today-hopefully we'll get a response.
drillwriter 10 Report post Posted October 2, 2012 Where are the Geneseo scores? Dan, you and the staff have set the bar so high, that expectations are very high. I hope everyone understands and appreciates the work that the staff here does to get scores, recaps, and even links to vidoes of performances (in the festivals results) available here the night of competitions, or the next day. Dan and the staff spend a lot of their free time documenting band's themes/music & schedules, as well competition schedules and results. And how much do you think they get paid? (hint: 0) Thanks to the entire staff for all of their hark work! Without this site, I don't know where people would go to follow marchng band in Illinois.
