Good line up.

As far as thoughts for honor band:

I expect JH to be McCracken.

Class A - Macomb, hands down.

Class AA - tough call - Vernon Hills

Class AAA - hard telling. History says Libertyville dominates and will get it..........but I could see Warren, United Township, or Lockport getting it as well.

I'm trying to find programs of what bands are playing, so if you know and I haven't posted it, please add it!

Also, this is just what I've heard or found on the internet, so I apologize if the program ends up being wrong.

I'll be at the festival, so I'll post results and the program after everything is all said and done.

I'm working on trying to scrounge up a program before the festival starts, as that may help people's predictions, but if nothign else, I'll post it on Friday or Saturday along with Honor Bands as soon as I know them.

How does Superstate work?

I'm glad that you asked this, because there are probably other people that are confused as well, because Superstate is not your typical festival.

In early March or thereabouts, any band that wants to can send in a tape with about 12-20 minutes of music. One selection can be from the previous year (for example, most schools will use part the previous years Superstate if they were there) and the rest must be from the current year. From there, based on school size, Middle School, and Classes A-AAA are selected (I can't remember the size limits, maybe someone can help me out?).

Once selected, the bands perform in the Foellinger Great Hall at the University of Illinois for three judges, in addition to a conducting evaluator. There are no scores, points, or rankings besides who wins each class. The band that the judges feel played the best is named the "Honor Band" for their class and gets invited back the next year without an audition.

Other than that, it's a day filled with great music and great bands! Hope that helps!
