You’re correct they did. I just noticed. It’s human error and I may include them in semi-finals because I didn’t notice them here.

I'm interested as well. Illinois representation in 2019 at BOA Grand nats was very small.

    CLASS 2A COMPETITION
Illinois Valley Central Effingham Prarie Central CLASS 3A COMPETITION
Mahomet-Seymour Monticello Rochelle Township CLASS 1A COMPETITION
Wateska Community Rushville-Industry Sullivan SMALL SCHOOLS CHAMPION: Mahomet-Seymour

    CLASS 5A COMPETITION
Granite City Plainfield North Batavia CLASS 6A COMPETITION
Downers Grove South Normal Minooka Community CLASS 4A COMPETITION
Galesburg Bloomington Washington Community LARGE SCHOOL CHAMPION: I am conflicted here. For the first time in a long time ALL of these first place bands have a good chance to win grand champion. My gut says Granite City, but then you see Downers Grove South and Galesburg in the other top spots who can certainly upset Granite City. Then you look beyond first place and see Plainfield North who can upset Granite City and win Grand Champion and also Normal and Bloomington in the second spots who could win first and take Grand Champion.

    If I had to rank them out it would look something like this;
Granite City Plainfield North Downers Grove South Galesburg Bloomington Normal These 6 bands will probably (pending nice weather and good performances) dominate the large school championship. ANY of these 6 could win the Governors Trophy in my opinion.

To be honest though, that’s one of the things out of student control. If they love marching band they won’t quit because of a consolation they didn’t get to make the final decision on.
They did great and they deserved the win. And by they I mean the students did great and the students deserved the win.

My heart says Marian by a hair but my head say's LincolnWay by a hair. I'm not from Marian but from Newton. They have a special place in my heart since Mr Bimm always wrote our drills, even way back when, and I'm 57. Regardless of who comes out on top I hope everyone just performs to the best of their ability. That's all we can ask. Good Luck to all.

1A my bets are on Herscher. They’ve had a rather successful season. Providence will probably provides some well rounded competition though.
2A my pick is Batavia. I think it will be by a pretty solid margin here. Good band, great musicians, and a solid likelihood to win this class.
3A my pick is Marian Catholic. Is will be close and the next two by my predictions are Lockport and Joliet West respectively. scores will be close between top two. I’m excited to see the outcome.
Grand Champion: Marian Catholic (or Lockport) whichever one pulls out on top in Class 3A.

Marchingmaniac88 got a reaction from JT2002 in U of I Marching Band Championship Predictions (3 week update)
There are 5 weeks left until the University of Illinois Marching Band Championships in Champaign, Illinois. This will be a good, competitive competition. I will conduct this prediction in the same format I conducted the ISU prediction.

    Class 2A
Illinois Valley Central Sherrard Effingham This has some solid bands in it. Most notably IVC and Sherrard. IVC having yet another outperforming season for a small school. IVC received first in their class at Washington and 3rd at Morton. Sherrard is having a FANTASTIC year so far, they could very well make it competitive here at U of I for IVC. Sherrard got first in their class at both Washington and at Geneseo.

    Class 3A
Mahomet-Seymour  Kaneland Streator Township Mahomet-Seymour is always very good, due to this I expect them to win this class. Kaneland I think will be in second here, they are usually solid but topping Mahomet-Seymour will be difficult. Streator comes in third here. None of these bands have really done too much yet, so I expect as the season continues this will become more apparent.

    Class 1A
Wateska Community Rushville-Industry  Sullivan Here its hard to tell. I don't know all these schools very well, nor do I think they are all that competitive during the season. I will go on a wings and make this prediction for this class, but remember take it with a grain of salt.

    Small Schools Grand Champion: Mahomet-Seymour

    Class 5A
Granite City Plainfield North Batavia  Granite has been added to the bands performing since my last prediction. I expect they easily win this class. They are a very good band and well prove well again here, maybe for a 3rd consecutive grand championship. Plainfield North and Batavia also very good bands, second and third here respectively.

    Class 6A
Normal Downers Grove South Minooka Community Normal and Downers Grove South will be VERY close. I expect this to come down to a few points and maybe less. Normal is an excellent program with great commitment to the project at hand with a very succesful history as two seperate program and now as one large program in just its second year. Same goes for DGS, great program, great success, this will be a fun class. Minooka will be good, I always enjoy their ability to play and perform very well.

    Class 4A
Galesburg  Washington Community Bloomington Galesburg and Washington have both had their shares of Grand Champion already this year with Washington winning it all at Morton and Galesburg at Geneseo. They will be good, both of them, even in overall placement. Bloomington also a good program. They will place im just not sure if it will be higher than Galesburg or Washington.

Large School Grand Champion: Granite City

I had a chance to look over the sheet. Some interesting findings:
-The only band to band to be ranked first in their class by all 6 primary judges was Dunlap. They were also first in guard and percussion. Sherrard was first in all captions, except music gen effect where they were second.
-Galesburg was first in music individual and music general effect, but fourth in music ensemble
-In all four classes, the band that was first in visual gen effect was first in their classes.
    Point spread by caption:
    VI: 74-115
    VE: 68-144
    VGE: 79-144
    MI:60-161
    ME: 58-116

    My predictions for this competition are as follows;

Class 1A I have Sherrard. Sherrard got first in there class at the Washington Competition. I expect they come out on top with maybe some competition from ROWVA.

Class 2A goes to Metamora. I simply don’t see the competition being enough to top Metamora. Metamora got second in their class at Washington and third at Morton. I think they win it here.

Class 3A I have Dunlap. I am not sure if any band in 3A that can get very close to topping the caliber that Dunlap is at. So I have them taking this class by a solid margin.

Class 4A has some good bands. The ones I expect on top at Oak Park-River Forest and Galesburg. Oak Park-River Forest yet to have too good of an outing getting 7th in their class at A.A Stagg. Galesburg got 3rd in their class at Washington. If I absolutely had to pick Galesburg wins here.

Grand Champion here goes to Galesburg. I expect Dunlap will be in their vicinity overall and will have some competition from Oak Park-River Forest in their class.

Predictions for each class will be top 3 placements, then an explanation for placement reasoning. Finals will be the order of placements in finals then an explanation of those placements. Order of performance for the 2019 ISU Marching Band Championships is 2A-1A-4A-3A-6A-5A.

    Class 2A
Morton Metamora Canton Morton is the clear choice to win this class. Their program is good as shown in Washington so far this season. Metamora also a well put together program scoring 3rd in their class at Washington and 2nd at Morton invitational. Canton had a strong showing at Washington scoring 5 points behind Dunlap for 2nd in their class. As these programs continue to clean and develop, I expect the class to shake out something like this.

    Class 1A
Illinois Valley Central Eureka University Here it is hard to put IVC anywhere other than first. They are a good clean small school band. Eureka and University in the second and third position. They are also good small school bands and could be very competitive with each other as well as with IVC.

    Class 4A
John Hersey Elk Grove Batavia Not much of a jumping point in this class. So my prediction is John Hersey in first, good band program, clean programs. Followed by Elk Grove who is reasonably good for the class and Batavia. 2nd and 3rd could get flipped as more season develops.

    Class 3A
Marian Catholic Galesburg Bloomington Marian Catholic is very good as usual. I pick them for first as most would. Followed by Galesburg who has a decent showing at Washington scoring just about 4 to 5 points behind powerhouses Morton and Normal, as they clean they will be a threat. Bloomington who could have done better at Morton got 3rd behind Washington Community and Collinsville. They will continue to clean and we will see how things shake out as season progresses.

    Class 6A
Lincoln-Way Lockport Township Warren Township This is the biggest class in competition and also one of the most competitive. Lincoln-Way, the reigning champions, will be the first place winners most likely. Lockport will give them a run for their money but second is a good spot for them compared to Lincoln-Way. Warren Township will be good and I expect them to score well against their competitive.

    Class 5A
Prospect Victor J Andrew Plainfield North Prospect is an easy pick for first place in this class. A great band with good students, staff, and program. Victor J Andrew will be behind them and I expect them to be up their, most likely between second and third place. Plainfield North will also be good. Expect them between second and third place in class 5A.

    FINALS
Lincoln-Way Lockport Township Marian Catholic Warren Township Prospect Lake Park John Hersey Victor J Andrew Galesburg Morton Plainfield North Bloomington Elk Grove Illinois Valley Central Here I put Lincoln-Way in first because I think they will be the best here, they always have a well put together show. Lockport I put in second place, they have a very good and clean program and they always score well in finals here. Marian Catholic, they well be stuck in third, they will be good but it will be hard to beat Lincoln-Way and Lockport. Warren Township is good, but I think it will be hard for them to defeat Marian Catholic for the third place spot. Prospect will place in their range of expectation, reasonably good, but not necessarily placing in finals. Lake Park is iffy, they may or may not make it to finals and if they do I am not even sure if this is a good placement for them. Next is John Hersey, they are always good and I expect them to be good yet again. Victor J Andrew tends to not be as top tier as usual, I still have them in finals eighth place. In ninth place is Galesburg, a program in the process of rebuilding and doing a good job of it, I expect them to be good here. Morton I have under Galesburg but it will depend upon which band gets the most repetition and cleaning done prior to this competition, itll be close here. Plainfield North in eleventh place, usually good, but I don't expect them to keep up with Morton and Galesburg calibers this year, particularly in Music Performance and General Effect. Bloominton I also don't expect to keep up with Galesburg and Morton or most of their pack late in the season for that matter. Elk Grove and IVC are thirteenth and fourteenth.
